Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 albums collected over a period of more than 45 years! Purchased from new and stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover! This is how I have always stored my records!  Also this is a very early original 1st UK pressing features  translucent vinyl (only 1st UK press) .  Absolutely stunning top audio on my systems! Graded at least excellent plus to Near Mint through out!  Any interference is just light static heard perhapes in between tracks or quieter places or the odd light pop could do with a contant cleaning before plays due to being stored in a case laying dormant for over 45 years. Note: I can't remember having played this album before, Try to find another original UK issue like this! Genuine 46 years old!

Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player is the sixth studio album by British singer/songwriter Elton John!!.

 



This was Elton's second straight #1 album in America and yielded his first #1 single there - "Crocodile Rock."




According to writer Philip Norman, Elton's friend Groucho Marx jokingly pointed his index fingers at Elton John during a get together in California as if holding a pair of six-shooters.








Elton John put up his hands and said, "Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player," so naming the album. Along with "Crocodile Rock" Don't Shoot Me... contained more songs with a pop flavour, including "Elderberry Wine" (the b-side of the "Crocodile Rock" single), "I'm Gonna Be a Teenage Idol", and "Teacher, I Need You." Many long-time fans however, lamented this change, wishing he had stayed true to his original roots of simple piano ballads which were the staple on most of his earlier albums.!




The album contained two top-ten U.S. pop singles, "Daniel" and "Crocodile Rock", with the latter reaching number one.

The vinyl

This is the original TRANSLUCENT vinyl (only early press) This is free of any  major warping but displays very slightly uneven on the turntable which had absolutly no adverse effect on the audio quality as I heard it!


This vinyl looks superb! I can barely see a blemish and this looks barely played in my opinion! Only in strong light can possibly any whyspy sleeve removal marks/scuffs possibly be seen! Believe me this is a real rarety! 46 years old like this!
 

The Audio

This was played on a top system at very loud volume prior to listing   The audio is cristal clear and vibrant with (no) distortion at all! (no) loud constant clicks or pops heard! (note: Please allow for light static that may be heard in between tracks probably caused due to fact that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 45 years and would need to have a constant cleaning before each play. Note: Debrit was seen on the playing surface after play, indicating this. It is noted that I heard a couple of minor isolated static ticks/pops only, but importantly no loud constant clicks or pops and no distortion at all. I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listing of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! The audio is graded at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion. One of the most vibrant copies that I have heard of this pressing!

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean is recomended before each play. From my personal experiance this reduces static crackle and enhances the audio qaulity!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have described the audio quality as honest and as I heard it. Although I never heard any major problems other than prevoiously described, Please allow for the odd light static crackle\ticks here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 46 year old vinyl that would have originally have been played on a 46 year old system!


The labels

These are the oiriginal 1st UK issue DJM labels, It is difficult for me to actually see any spidering around the spindle hole. This has obviously barely ever been played in my personal opinion. The spindle hole is perfectly round and free of any wear.
 

The Record Sleeve

This is the original plain white paper sleeve! The vinyl has been seperated from the sleeve! Please note! An anti static liner was put in when I purchased this album many years ago, to protect the vinyl from the paper sleeve!

The Cover

This is the original 1st press LAMINATED FRONT UK GARROD & LOFTHOUSE'' gatefold cover! in unbeleivable top condition! NEVER EVER SEEN LIKE THIS! so hard to keep in good condition. This has amaizingly (no) nasty ringware  and you really have to look for ringware to notice in my opinion (very light)! Hardly any storageware worth to mention on the front apart from a couple of thumb creases to mention at the opening edge.  The laminate is super glossy and it is obvious that this cover has always been kept in a sleeve for protection. It is noted that the laminate is a little short at the edges, which is a manufacture defect but you have to look to notice. over all very clean. The inside of the gatefold is also very clean Any browning with age you have to look for to notice.  This is strong and very straight must be at least excellent plus!


The Booklet
This has the original textured pages (only original issues) fully intact no nasty creases to mention any foxing you really have to look to notice any in my opinion. The booklet is seperate and not fixed to the cover as it came when new.
