Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player is the seventh album by British singer/songwriter Elton John.
This was Elton John's commercial breakthrough in America and yielded his first #1 single there - Crocodile Rock. Along with Crocodile Rock, Don't Shoot Me... contained more songs with a pop flavor, including "Elderberry Wine" (the b-side of Crocodile Rock) and "Teacher, I Need You." Many long-time fans however, lamented this change, wishing he had stayed true to his original roots of simple piano ballads which were the staple on most of his earlier albums.

The vinyl.
the vinyl is graded as excellent\excellent plus please note the vinyl at 1st glance looks like new However on closer inspection under strong light there are are extreemly light surface marks scratches. i have played this through and the audio is exceptional extreemely clear and vibrant. this record has definately (not) been over played or played much at all. however there are signs that the previous owner (that being my brother) has dropped the needle cartridge down on the tracks that he obviously wanted to listen to.i would class myself as being highly critical some might say too critical but the exceptional quality of this early press is slightly undermined in only a couple of places at the begining of two tracks that i can recall. one being side 1.at the very begining of ''daniel'' very slight crackling and side 1.at the begining on ''crocodile rock'' please note that this album is 35 years old and these slight imperfections are the only thing detering me from grading this album as near mint!!!!! this does not detract from the fact that the audio is exceptionaly clear and vibrant and it would be hard to find a better press of better quality!!! please look at my completed listings that i have sold of this calabre and you will see that i normally get it right!!!!
The labels.
These are like new showing no groove ware and hardly any spidering indicating that this has only been played a handfull of times!!! they feature the DJM logo (only early press) and ''all rights....'' is featured around the label rim (only early press)
The cover
The original garrod and lofthouse fully laminated gatefold cover is near mint!!! which is quite a feat to find an original cover like this!!!! brilliantly glossy sharp corners showing (no) storageware!!! i have tried to capture this in the photos even the spine is near perfect i can't emphisise enough the rarety of this!!!!!
The booklet
The original picture\lyric booklet that came with the album features six pages is like new!!!
I have taken a few photos so that all aspects of the album can be clearly seen and i have super sized the photos!!!!!
