WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original DJM Records very first Stereo press released in Chile in 1974 by DJM Records, made and distributed by Discos BANGLAD (Banglad Records), licensed from Dick James Music Ltd., England, catalog number LPXXX DJ-30, with hand etched matrix numbers BJ-30-A EB-CD in Side A and DJ-30-B EB-CD in Side B, with traditional yellow/black DJM/Banglad Records labels of the period. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!! 

“Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” was originally released in October 1973 as a double album with a tri-fold cover, and certified Gold Record in USA in the first week, but we had to wait for some months to see this so classic and successful album by Elton John, released here in Chile. And we got this album released like a single LP, with a UNIQUE TRACKLIST, made of two single pieces of thin cardboard, with front cover pasted on the flaps of back cover. Front cover keeps the original Picture Sleeve artwork and design, with the picture of Elton John walking inside the wall poster, with the only differences that in Chile the album title is written in Spanish only and at top left corner is the Banglad Records logo and catalog number. Back cover is totally different, for some reason in Chile decided to use one of the inner picture sleeves of the original tri-fold cover, with the only difference that name of “Elton John” is in red letters, not yellow as in the original picture, and they added most of songs included in the album, written in Spanish only, except “Harmony”, which’s written in English only, the full tracklist is completed with the album title, which’s also a song title and “Bennie Y Los Jets”, written in dark pink letters, with Banglad Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. In labels, the album and song titles are written in Spanish only, except “Harmony”, which’s written in Spanish only, with full credits for songwriters and additional information about licenses and rights society. The songs included in this 1 LP version of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, with titles in English:

If you know the Picture Sleeve of this album in detail, maybe, you could have already noticed that in Chile all borders were cropped. And song “Grey Seal”, correctly translated as “Sello Gris” in back cover, it’s misspelled “Sello ROJO” (in English, “Red Seal”) in label. Another important fact to notice is that all songs of the album were written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, but in Chile, the name of Bernie Taupin as songwriter was omitted, so the credits are for Elton John only. Another error is in the deadwax of Side A, someone misspelled the catalog number and etched “BJ-30” instead “DJ-30”. And if you are a collector of Elton John, you should know that in Chile 2 versions of this album were released, same title, “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”, and same catalog number, “LPXXX DJ-30”, but different tracklist. The first pressing was released in 1974 and the second pressing in 1975. This is very important to know to avoid being deceived and scammed (if someone offers the record and says the tracklist in label isn’t the same of back cover, then it's clear the record doesn’t correspond to the cover). I’ve listed BOTH VERSIONS in individual auction, one of them released in 1974, the very first pressing, with errors, and the other in 1975, the second pressing, with the errors corrected, so you can see and compare. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE version of “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John, ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE COVER, UNIQUE BACK COVER Picture Sleeve, with Spanish-written album and song titles and with UNIQUE ERRORS, a record almost never seen and maybe auctioned here in eBay by the very first time in this very first pressing, with the correct record which matches the cover, A MUST TO HAVE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Pop and Soft Rock music and especially for all fans, lovers and collectors of Elton John or even Kiki Dee, who makes backing vocals in song “All The Girls Love Alice”. WOW!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in nice VG+ or even EX- condition, with some wear in all edges, more evident in corners, with some light creases and faint ring marks, with little tears and some faint stains and marks of humidity at top and bottom edges, but with all seams solid and intact, which’s a real miracle for this so fragile kind of cover. The record is in VG- or even VG condition both sides, glossy and clean, but with loads and loads of scuffs, light and not so light hairlines and many soft scratches of all sizes and in all directions, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX or EX+ condition both sides, clean and clear, with only minimal spindle hole wear and a very faint stain in Side A. The sound is in strong VG- or even VG condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with constant crackles and regular light and not so light clicks, more evident in Side B and in the silent parts, which could cause some distraction, but music keeps loud and clear from the beginning to end, with Side A closer to VG condition and Side B closer to VG- condition. Overall, this is a great record by Elton John, in this MEGARARE CHILEAN PRESS and ONLY RELEASED IN CHILE, with UNIQUE COVER and UNIQUE BACK COVER picture sleeve, with Spanish-written song titles and UNIQUE ERRORS, for sure not for Minty minds or audiophiles, but for also sure with still a nice cover and the record saw better days but it keeps a nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and a very decent and respectable sound quality after about 52 years, which shouldn’t disappoint anyone and should satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press, A MUST TO HAVE no matter the condition. We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
