A RARE POSTER OF EARLY DAY CONCERT AND PHOTO ON STAGE. LONG JOHN BALDRY AND HIS “BLUESOLOGY BAND” 21st DECEMBER 1966 LOVELY INDIVIDUAL POSTER. AN OUTSTANDING ITEM.

This is a quite outstanding opportunity to acquire one of only a few ever available pieces of memorabilia of ELTON JOHNS VERY FIRST EVER BAND, and these rare items are thus exceptional and VERY sought after by genuine collectors.

Working in a band called Bluesology throughout the mid to late 1960s, Dwight changed his name by deed poll in homage to his fellow "Bluesologists" Elton Dean (saxophonist) and singer Long John Baldry. He scored his first international hits in 1971 with his eponymous second album, which included one of his best-loved songs, "Your Song". The lyrics, then and (for the most part) since, were written by chief collaborator Bernie Taupin.

He went on to become one of the most successful recording artists of the 1970s, with globally-successful singles including "Rocket Man", "Crocodile Rock", "Saturday Night's Alright (For Fighting)", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", and "Bennie And The Jets".

A December 1966 “POWER OF TWO DISCOTHEQUE EARLY 1966 PROMOTIONS POSTER FOR THE FORTHCOMING CONCERT” at Lymington New Forest on December 21st 1966 promoted by “Power of Two Promotions” at the South’s favourite venue for live music called “Chords Club”.

With this POSTER ALSO is copy of the original press advert for the LONG JOHN BALDRY SHOW, together with the forthcoming attraction of MANFRED MANN GROUP due at the club in January 1967.

ALSO Offered with this very very very rare poster, is a superb and QUITE INCREDIBLE BLACK AND WHITE PHOTOGRAPH APPROX 7 x 5 inch taken of this superb EVENT AND CONCERT, [the ONLY ACTUAL SHOT OF THAT CONCERT] with LONG JOHN BALDRY live on stage singing, and at the side of him Reg Dwight [Now Sir Elton John!] on his keyboard, together with American guitarist Caleb Quayle and Elton Dean on Sax.

This concert was shortly after “Bluesology” had been featuring on 12 Dates on “THE ROLLING STONES 66 TOUR.”

This RARE POP POSTER, and SUPERB PHOTO OF THE EVENT is being sold by the actual promoter, also comes with, and included, copys of original letters dated 1966 of members of public applying for tickets for the actual concert at 10/6pence OLD MONEY each ticket!

ALSO The original Newspaper advertisements promoting the actual concerts in the South’s Newspapers are taken from November 1966.

Long John Baldry PERFORMED LIVE on stage as seen on the superb photograph, with his band “Bluesology”. The band featured ELTON JOHN [unknown at the time and known as Reginald Dwight] and he played live on stage.

Elton had the year previously written Bluesology` s first release “Come back baby!” The next year, 1967, Elton John’s changed his name from the then Reg Dwight. He took Elton Deans first name [saxophonist of the band] and John Baldry`s forename. “Elton John” was then his new name!
