Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover! This is how I have always stored my records!  Also this is a very early original UK pressing. With the original translucent vinyl noticed a purple tint if held up to the light. Absolutely stunning top audio on my systems! Graded at least excellent plus to near as mint on all four sides in my opinion!  Any interference is just light static/isolated ticks heard perhapes in between tracks or quiet places/intros only and could do with a contant cleaning before plays due to being stored in a case laying dormant for over 45 years. Note: I can't remember having played this album before, Try to find another original UK issue like this! Genuine 45 years old!

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is the seventh studio album by Elton John, released in 1973.




The album sold over 30 million copies worldwide, and is regarded as one of John's best.




It was recorded at the Château d'Hérouville in France after problems recording at the intended location of Jamaica.




Among the 17 tracks, the album contains the hits "Candle in the Wind", "Bennie and the Jets", "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" and "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" plus "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding" and "Harmony".




The move to the château from Jamaica provided John and his band with a great deal of creative inspiration, and an abundance of quality material was produced, leading to the decision to release the work as a double album (LP)




Under the working titles of Vodka and Tonics and Silent Movies, Talking Pictures, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics in two and a half weeks, with John composing most of the music in three days while staying at the Pink Flamingo Hotel in Kingston, Jamaica.






He had wanted to go to Jamaica he has said, in part, because the Rolling Stones had just recorded Goats Head Soup there.





Production on the album was started in Jamaica in January 1973, though after difficulties with the sound system and the studio piano, coupled with disturbance due to the Joe Frazier and George Foreman boxing match taking place in Kingston, and violent political tension due to the poor economic situation, the band decided to move before any productive work was done.






Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was recorded in two weeks at the Château d'Hérouville in France, where John had previously recorded Honky Château and Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player. While a version of "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" was recorded in Jamaica, that recording was discarded, and the released version of the song came from the sessions at the château.






The album was released on 5 October 1973 as a double LP, with cover art by illustrator Ian Beck depicting John stepping into a poster.




The original 1973 LP, when released on CD, was released on two discs, while the 1992 and 1995 CD remasters put the album on one disc as it was slightly less than 80 minutes.

The vinyls

These are the original heavier and thicker type of vinyls (only found like this on earliest press) later press are much more flimsier and less robust.

Features translucent red/purple when looked at held to a light! (Only earliest 1st UK Pressings) This vinyl looks superb! I can barely see a blemish on all four sides and these looks un- played in my personal opinion! Note: I can't see any spider trails around the spindle hole (very very rare after 45 years) Only in strong light can possibly any whyspy sleeve removal marks/scuffs possibly be seen! Beleive me this is a real rarety! 45 years old like this!
 

The Audio

This was played on a top system at very loud volume prior to listing and fully recorded for you to hear for yourself in the player above.  The audio is cristal clear and vibrant with (no) distortion at all! (no) loud constant clicks or pops heard! Probably one on the best sounding copies that I have heard ,absolutely superbe crisp audio quality throughout! (note: Please allow for light static that may be heard in between tracks probably caused due to fact that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 45 years and would need to have a constant cleaning before each play. Note Debrit was seen on the playing surface after play, indicating this. (Noted: Three or four static ticks heard at the intro to side one to mention. Any other ticks were isolated only in quieter places or in between tracks only), importantly no loud constant clicks or pops heard. No distortion or signs of being overplayed. I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listing of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! The audio is graded at least excellent plus to very near mint on all four sides in my opinion.

Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean is recomended before each play. From my personal experiance this reduces static crackle and enhances the audio qaulity!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have described the audio quality as honest and as I heard it. Although i never heard any major problems other than prevoiously described, Please allow for the odd light static crackle\ticks here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Please remember that thess are genuine 45 year old vinyls that would have originally have been played on a 45 year old system!


The labels

These are the oiriginal 1st UK issue DJM labels, It is difficult for me to actually see any spidering on all four sides, very, very rare like this!!  This has obviously barely ever been played at all and looks un played in my personal opinion. The spindle holes are perfectly round and free of any wear.
 

The Record Sleeves

These are the original plain white 'Made in Great Britain' patented sleeve! The vinyl has been seperated from the sleeve! There are light creasing/staining/browning with age only. An anti static liner was put in when I purchased this album many years ago, to protect the vinyl from the paper sleeve!

The Cover

This is the original 1st press  UK GARROD & LOFTHOUSE'' Tri-gatefold cover! Un-Laminated, in unbeleivable top condition! NEVER EVER SEEN LIKE THIS! so hard to keep in good condition. This has amaizingly (no) nasty ringware  and you really have to look for ringware to notice in my opinion (very light)! Hardly any storageware worth to mention on the front or rear! (no) real creases to the front or rear worth to mention, Note: just light indents at the rear to mentiuon but you have to look to notice in my opinion.   This is strong and very straight must be at least excellent to excellent plus!
