Description
Original 1970 UK copy of Elton John’s classic second, self-titled album. Vinyl is in Ex condition and is the very first pressing, with handwritten (not stamped) matrix numbers of DJLPS 406 A2 and DJLPS 406 B1. However, what makes this particularly interesting is that it comes in a plain white cover with a stuck-on, promotional “for your information” DJM newssheet concerning the album (name of artist, title of LP, projected release date, track listing, credits etc) “with the compliments of Helen Walters”, who was DJM’s press officer at the time. Presumably the album was manufactured before the sleeve had been finished, as this is clearly how DJM sent out advance copies of the album to reviewers, radio stations etc.
Plain white sleeve is slightly worn and some of the tape that was used to stick the newssheet on the sleeve is coming away, but a very nice item for Elton John collectors. All photos/scans are taken from the item that’s being offered.
