Elvis Costello & The Attractions - I Can't Stand Up For Falling Down/ Girls Talk 

(2 Tone Records CHS TT 7 UK 7" Single 1980)

 

This is a 1980 UK 7" Single 1st pressing in great overall condition! This single was withdrawn from sale before the time of its release in 1980. This was due to legal issues with "WEA" who normally released Elvis Costello records in the UK. Apparently there were only 1000 copies pressed at the time. Most copies of this single were subsequently given away free at Elvis Costello gigs at the time. This, apparently, was the only way to acquire this single. Therefore, UK original pressings of this single are extremely rare!

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has solid paper "2 Tone" labels. The record has 1st press CHS-TT-7 A1 and CHS-TT-7 B1 matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax. There are two sets of crossed out matrix numbers in the dead wax on both sides too. These are "CHS-TT-8 A1" and "CHS-TT-8 B1". These have been machine stamped in the dead wax, and then have been crossed out. Also, the catalogue number "XX 1 A-1" and "XX 1 B-1" has been machine etched in the dead wax on the A-side and B-side respectively. These have also been crossed out.

"TimTom" is machine etched in the dead wax on the A-side. This has not been crossed out. "Ty-CBS" is machine etched in the dead wax on the B-side. Again, this has not been crossed out. This single comes with its original black & white "2 Tone" company paper sleeve.

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this "2 Tone" 7" single release from 1980. As stated, this single was never available to buy in the shops back in 1980. It was only available at certain Elvis Costello gigs at the time. Subsequently, they are very rare nowadays. This single is one of the rarest UK "2 Tone" releases too!

Vinyl: It doesn't look to have been played that much! There are some light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can hardly be seen under a strong light. The original paper sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. They are mainly on the dead wax areas. These can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear only.

The original "2 Tone" company paper sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading and creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have play tested this single in its entirety & it plays Very Near Excellent to Excellent overall. There is some light, very mild or very minor crackle in a very few quieter places. There are no clicks or pops. Overall, a great audio copy!

I shall place the vinyl into a separate plain paper sleeve. This will protect the original paper sleeve from any damage during the shipping process.

  >>  Grading Information All grading is very strict & adheres to 'Record Collector' specifications. However, I have fine tuned them & they are explained below. All vinyl is examined closely under a strong light & play tested.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this. 

NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.

EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...

NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.

Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

Please note that I also use "+" or "-" symbols for this grading. A plus symbol is obviously at the top end of "Very Good" & is really not far from being in "near excellent" condition. The minus symbol obviously means it is at the lower end. This will mean that it is near to being in "Good+" condition.

Double LPs are classed as two LPs. Also gatefold sleeves, posters, inserts, etc.. can increase postage costs.

Please note that there are now VAT import charges from the UK into all EU countries. Anything under 150 Euros will need an IOSS number. VAT is paid at point of sale. For any items over 150 Euros in value. There will be a customs charge too. These vary, I believe, from country to country. Please check your relevant postal service online for details. Please note that these charges are beyond my control and are the law for outside parcels going into the EU.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl box/ mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).

I consider my postage & packaging costs to be very transparent & very fair. Packaging costs will generally be between £0.80 to £1.50. I am not adding any further costs for handling, etc...
