EPA-5088   Maroon Label A Touch of Gold   Volume I

This is a very rare maroon label edition of EPA - 5088.  A Touch of Gold, Volume I from my Dad's collection, which has been stored in his office for many years.  He bought it new upon release, and states that he has not played it in at least 30 years.  Dad took good care of his records, and while he did play them quite a bit, he always placed them back into their sleeves after playing.

I admit that I am not very knowledgeable about antique records, but have tried to determine a fair grade from the chart posted on E-Bay according to Goldmine Magazine.  I tried out the record on a new reproduction record player bought for the purpose.

The record plays well on both sides with some background noise, less noticeable as bass increases.  It does not skip.  Unfortunately, Dad marked his records and it does have writing in  fine ink on both sides.  I have made no attempt to clean the record in any way, it is just as I received it.

The picture sleeve is discolored with age and has a couple of blemishes, but no writing or seam splits.

As I said, I am not an expert, and could not decide between a VG or G+ rating.  In all honesty, I don't think it is either above or below those grades.
