This is by far the single rarest Elvis' album of the 1950's. Much rarer than even his first album, and about as hard to find as the "alternate" version of his second album. What makes this album so rare is the combination of the original design (masquerading as a book) which didn't withstand the test of time particularly well (almost all copies are thorn or damaged in some way), relatively limited press run, strictly seasonal nature of the album, and general lack of enthusiasm for Elvis singing gospel (why, yes…he was usually associated with the "ungodly" music). However, this is an awesome recording, and we feel very strongly that Elvis' singing vocal prowess was never again in such a full display as here. This album will provide you an ample evidence why Elvis was not only one of the very few great (white) pop singers, but probably the greatest of them all (with apologies to Roy Orbison, Del Shannon, Bill Medley and Gene Pitney). No wonder he was considered a 'king'. Indeed, one playing of side 2 (gospel side) and you will see the Light!

·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            CAUTION! The vinyl is only GOOD (G), with multiple, numerous, scuffs which are BOTH visible AND audible. The record plays with bearable BUT AUDIBLE surface noise and some pops and clicks. The record plays without skipping throughout. This record WAS play-graded.

(b)            The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).

(c)             The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)            Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)             Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.

THE COVER IS ONLY ABOUT GOOD+ (G+).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         The photo album and the cover itself has apparently been left at the mercy of some child; all the Elvis photos have been mutilated (extensively drawn and written on). Not one photo in the set has been spared; however, the photo album IS complete). The drawing / scribbling also visible on the inside gatefold.

-         Cover has some scribbling on front side in blue ballpoint pen (much of which has faded or was erased over time).

-         Cover has a partially split spine (more than 10 inches / 22 centimeters)

-         Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on all three seams seam

-         The gatefold cover has partially split seams on 1 out of 4 "legs" of the cover (about 8 inches / 1 inch = 2.5 centimeters).

-         Cover has some visible ring wear; On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 4.

-         Front cover has 3-4 small peel-off marks, none larger than 1/16th square inch.

-         Cover has a light "wrinkle" (crease) in one of the corners.

-         A few visible scratch marks on the cover.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No cut-out (drill) holes.

-         No cut-out corners

-         No saw-marks or indents

-         No stamps

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No water damage

-         No warping

-         No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
