ELVIS PRESLEY – ELVIS (INCLUDING “FOOL”) (APL1-0283) STILL SEALED SINCE 1973!

RECORD: MINT Orange Label copy, still sealed in the cover since its 1973 manufacture! The story behind this once-elusive album (in the pre-eBay days) was that it was released in July of 1973, after the divorce between Elvis and Priscilla. Elvis had recorded the song, “Fool” during the “Burning Love” recording sessions in March of 1972, which was around the time that Priscilla had decided to leave him. Colonel Parker despised the song “Fool” because he thought that Elvis was beating himself up and degrading himself for the entire country to hear, so he ordered this album to be discontinued and deleted from “Elvis’ Great LP Catalog” in the same year that it was released, 1973. This is why no U.S. manufactured Tan Label copies or later copies exist on the title. As a result, this particular album had become highly sought after by collectors wanting to complete their collections, especially after Elvis’ passing in 1977. Two photos of this item with flash and two photos without flash are provided for accuracy.

COVER: VG++ (EXC) conservatively graded, though sealed. The reason that I have chosen to reduce the grade from NM is due to some obvious bending of the lower right corner and corner tip (please see all photos). The upper right corner appears to be “crunched” a bit and this may be due to the shrink wrap having tightened up in that area after sealing. The Original “Musical Experience” Shrink Sticker and “Nichols F” price sticker remain fully affixed to the upper right corner.
