"Elvis Sails" U.S. RCA EP Rare!
"Elvis Sails" U.S. (RCA) EPA 5157 "Gold Standard Series"
This is a later pressing of the "Elvis Sails" EP originally released by RCA in December, 1958 as EPA 4325. Side 1 contains the 5:26 press interview with Elvis at the Brooklyn Army Terminal on September 22, 1958 just before shipping off to Germany. You also get the "Elvis Presley's Newsreel Interview" (2:20) & "Pat Hernon Interviews Elvis In the Library of the U.S.S. Randall at Sailing" (2:05) on Side 2. These historical recordings offer a rare glimpse into the thoughts of Pvt. Presley at a major crossroads in his life. The cover is hard cardboard with the original black & white graphic but stating "Re-Released by Popular Request For Your Collection". The back cover is a an RCA EP catalog with b&w minis of "4 Great Elvis EPs" at the top & "Now Available: 'Crying In The Chapel' on 45 RPM Single" along the bottom (circa 1965). The cover is near MINT with 2 small tape marks (one barely noticeable, the other less than 1/4") on the front. The record is a black vinyl 7" 45 with a large hole & orange RCA labels (late 60s era). It is in near MINT condition with one minor hairline at the beginning of side 1 but otherwise perfect.
