Good Rockin’ Tonight !
Back in the days when Elvis Presley was playing for $200 a night in little road house gigs and high school dances across the south, his first records were released by Sun Records in Memphis. Once he crossed over into the big time by signing with RCA, Sun was forbidden from running up any more of those first five singles. Through the years, they've become the most sought-after of Elvis' recordings, both for their rarity, and the primal rockabilly that is within their grooves.
This record was his second for Sun and has him rocking up a version of the R&B tune "Good Rockin' Tonight" paired with the bop tune "I Don't Care If The Sun Don't Shine." This was his second ever single and was released in September 22, 1954.
This SUN REISSUE record came from the warehouse of Florida dealer Richard Minor. In the mid '70s he was the #1 source for rare records- because he was buying out supplies of unsold records- and because he also bought unused labels and pressed up "new" copies of vintage gems that look, feel and sound just like the originals. In many cases the record was reproduced so well that it looks like the real thing. If he couldn't find it, he simply pressed up some to sell to meet the demand for the rare record. I'm not selling this as an original pressing vintage record so don't expect it to be one- although it is about 35 years old and looks pretty original by now.
