Description

ELVIS PRESLEY "HARUM SCARUM" 1965 original monaural issue LP (RCA) LPM-3468 VG/VG+. The soundtrack recording to Elvis' 19th feature film. Featuring the rare 12"x12" color bonus photo available only in early pressings.

By 1965, Elvis Presley, the “King of Rock 'n' Roll” was bogged down in a seemingly endless series of movies- each with a story-line even more lightweight than the songs they contained. "Harum Scarum" was not a stellar Elvis vehicle. He was cast as a sort-of modern day Rudolph Valentino trapped in a Middle Eastern world cut off from modern society. Of course, all ends well; Elvis gets the girl (Mary Ann Mobley) & returns to Hollywood unscathed. No singles were released from this album & the 9 movie songs plus the 2 "Bonus Songs" cut from the film were all controlled by Gladys Music under the tight rein of the Colonel.  The unique feature of this LP is the inclusion of the 12" x 12" color bonus photo that was available only in early pressings. It is a posed publicity picture depicting Elvis in full "Harum Scarum" regalia complete with burnoose. There is a facsimile signature stating "Best Wishes, Elvis Presley".

Side 1

1. Harem Holiday 2. My Desert Serenade 3. Go East- Young Man 4. Mirage 5. Kismet 6. Shake That Tambourine
Side 2
1. Hey Little Girl 2. Golden Coins 3. So Close, Yet So Far (From Paradise) Special Bonus Songs 4. Animal Instinct 5. Wisdom Of The Ages
Cover looks good & is intact w/no tears or split seams. It has light shelf & edge wear plus a corner "ding" on the upper right as well as a name faintly written in blue ink on the front above Elvis' name. Original 1965 mono pressing w/black RCA "Dog On Top" labels & "Monaural" across the bottom. There are a few negligible hairlines but the record plays fine. Complete w/rare original 12" x 12" color bonus photo depicting Elvis in costume from the film. This photo was available only with a few early pressings in 1965. It displays well w/a few stress lines on the right side & negligible shelf wear. The back has some tape residue marks that do not show on the front.
