"Joshua Fit The Battle"/"Known Only To Him" Rare 1966 U.S. RCA 45 MINT!
"Joshua Fit The Battle"/"Known Only To Him" US (RCA) "Gold Standard Series" 447-0651 w/Picture Sleeve
This rare 1966 release was part of RCA & Colonel Parker's "Elvis For Easter" marketing campaign. The record & sleeve are in beautiful, highly collectable condition. The front of the sleeve is a color "Girls, Girls, Girls" era publicity shot while the reverse side promotes the Elvis gospel catalog ("His Hand In Mine" LP, "Peace In The Valley" EP & "Crying In The Chapel" 45) under the "Elvis For Easter" banner. These songs are from the "His Hand In Mine" album- "Joshua Fit The Battle" is the well-known "Jubilee" spiritual while Stuart Hamblen's "Known Only To Him" had previously been recorded by 2 of Elvis' favorite southern gospel groups- the Blackwood Brothers & the Statesmen Quartet (featuring Jake Hess- one of Elvis' major vocal influences). The sleeve looks perfect except for a miniscule 1/4" imperfection on the bottom edge- barely noticeable. To be safe, we'll give it a MINT-. The rarely (if ever) played record has the black mid-60's "dog on side" labels. It is MINT with no scratches or scuffs. Overall condition M-/M.
