ELVIS PRESLEY: LOVE ME TENDER EP: HMV 7EG8199, EX Cond.
RARE 1957 1st Press, 1st UK EP, Picture sleeve x2

Up for sale here: Elvis Presley - Love Me Tender EP

A true Elvis rarity, especially in this fantastic condition and with a bonus 2nd copy of the original sleeve. Released on the HMV label in 1957, this was Elvis's 1st EP, pressed in the UK to coincide with the release of the film of the same name. Elvis adorns the front, caught in one of his great rock and roll poses, performing on the veranda to his assembled film 'family'. Sleeve notes on the rear tell the story of the film if you didn't know it already, set in 1865 at the end of the American civil war, basically involves a whole deal of rootin', tootin' and indeed shootin' and plenty of excuses for Mr Presley to break into song.
As mentioned above there are two of the original sleeves being offered for sale with this disc, although one is a little yellowed with age, the other is still pristine black and white. Great if you fancy framing one for your wall, as it's a rarity all on its own, or perhaps you have the disc but no sleeve to marry it with, and this way you'd have two great copies. Although on first inspection they appear identical, the layout on the bottom of the rear of the sleeves does differ slightly; if you look at the photos I have taken you will notice the positioning of the HMV logo is central on one and to the left on the other, with the advertising blurb moved accordingly. I can find no reference to why this may be, but do know there are two versions of this disc, one with a round centre, one with a removable centre, and perhaps the sleeves differ slightly with each of those.
A classic recording and, with double the sleeves you'd normally be getting, a must have for any serious Elvis collector, starting low with no reserve, so the highest bidder takes it home.

Side 1: Love Me Tender / Let Me

Side 2: Poor Boy / We're Gonna Move

Catalogue Number: 7EG8199 on HMV Records, 1957

The record is graded as EXCELLENT, plays really well. Only a couple of very faint marks on the vinyl, do not adversely affect playback, no skips or jumps, a little background noise as you get with all EP's this old. Labels are NEAR MINT, no stickers, no writing, no spindle marks. Push out centre is fully intact. Comes in its original flip back picture sleeve, VERY GOOD+, almost no scuffing to the edges, no yellowing; stil pristine black and white, small piece of top flipback missing, otherwise it would be near mint. No other rips or tears. No writing or other marks. Second sleeve is VERY GOOD also, with some yellowing through age, a few scuffs to the edges but no rips or tears, and has a different layout along the bottom of the HMV logo and advertising banner (see photos to compare).

A fabulous rare EP from the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Starting low, a chance to own a highly sought after Elvis Presley recording.
