Original 1950s Elvis Presley 78 rpm record of “Mystery Train” and “I Forgot To Remember To Forget.”  This is on the Sun label #223.  This is the REAL DEAL original! It is NOT a repro or counterfeit of any kind.  “Mystery Train” side matrix is ‘SUN U-156-20’.  “I Forgot” side matrix is ‘SUN-157-20’.  I give this record a very strict VG grade.  Both sides have full gloss and only a little of the very lightest possible wear, much of it probably caused by being pulled in and out of its sleeve over the years.  No feeler or heavy marks whatsoever.  There is a little very light groove-wear on each side, but not what I would consider heavy or rough by any means.   When we first acquired this record a few years ago, we played both sides of it on a turntable, equipped with a regular (non-78) stylus, and were quite impressed with how strong and clear the sound was! Very minimal surface noise at all. In fact, it would probably sound even better if played with a proper 78 stylus.  There are no chips along the edges and certainly no cracks or fractures of any kind.  The labels are very bright and attractive also. Only a few light spindle swirls are visible under direct light, as well as one light needle scratch mark on each (along the outside edge). No nicks or gouges around the center hole.  This record was acquired as part of a much larger collection that had been housed in 78 record-album books for many years. Basically, to the best of my knowledge, this has always been stored in some type of sleeve. Please review all of the photos. 

 

Note:  I very seldom deal in 78 records and I have tried to be very conservative in my grading of this highly-collectible Elvis record. If, however, you are one of those overly-demanding 78 buyers who frets about every idiosyncrasy imaginable, please don’t bid. I will be very reluctant to accept any returns for an item that is this fragile and easily-breakable. In other words, I only want it to be mailed one time!!
