Description
This auction is for a copy of the legendary ROCK AND ROLL (#1) LP by ELVIS PRESLEY. It is an original 1st pressing on the HMV label, cat # CLP 1093. The disc is visually in VG condition but plays far better than it appears. Side one plays extremely fine with a very low 'crackle factor' (most likely due to grime in the grooves which should 'play out' OK). There are a few quiet 'ticks'. Side two is a bit less fine. There is one fairly loud 'tick' and several more quiet ones between tracks one and two. The sound, in general, is pretty excellent.
As tends to be the way with LPs of this vintage, the cover is not so good. The covers from this period seem to have made from tissue paper and they do not wear well. This one has been repaired: please study the pics below. The repair job in general has been fairly successful, but I will draw your attention to the lower part of the back cover, and the bottom right of the front where the repair has been a bit less successful.
Nonetheless, taking all into consideration, this is a very acceptable copy of what is, after all, one of the most important LPs in rock history - ELVIS PRESLEY's debut album! And it still ROCKS!!!!!
