VINYL CONDITION Overall clean with a some light surface marks (mostly if tilted at right light angle). Probably the most noticanle is a light needle mark about 1 cm or so running over track 5 side 2. When I played it the overall audio quality was very good with only the odd pop or so in a few parts (mostly between tracks). Certainly no sticking or jumping of tracks on my play through.
SLEEVE CONDITION Unlike the vinyl, the sleeve is in poor condition and probably needs replaced or restored. The bottom right hand quarter of the front cover has been badly torn in an L at some time. To stop this damage going further I have put some narrow strips of "invisible" tape on it (inside and outside) to strenthen it, The middle of the opening section haas a bit out -roughly triangular 1 iinch x 1inch x 2 inches approx. Probably where someone pulled the cover back to get the vinyl out. The back cover has tome tear / handling damage at this area too, Bottom edge has a tear along the seam about 1 inch-at opening edge.
Elvis was obviously such an unknown quantity at this point in time that the sleeve review starts by describing him as "The Jazz Phenomenon to end all Phenomena" Also noticable is that HMV have given Elvis a CLP catalogue number that was used for their classical and Jazz releases. The label is also the one used for HMV classical / Jazz releases.
Overall vinyl with minor defects, but sleeve with major defects. How many of these records have survived in any condition over 50 years later is a big question?
PLESE BE SURE WHAT YOU ARE BIDDING ON. A RARE VINYL LP WITH SOME SURFACE MARKS AND A SLEEVE THAT MAYBE NEEDS RESORED OR REPLACED DUE TO OBVIOUS DAMAGE
