Long Out Of Print, Fabulous 180 gram HQ vinyl record, a German audiophile pressing         of one of the great early stereo EMI HMV titles. This Alto Limited Edition has the Number 1711. The LP is BRAND-NEW and SEALED.  The jacket is a facsimile of the original cover       art. Even the label is a facsimile of the First Semi-Circle (or Large Dog) HMV design.

The very fact that Manuel de Falla composed his ballet El sombrero de tres picos (The             Three-Cornered Hat) for the ambitious Serge Diaghilev and his epoch-making Ballets              Russes indicates the historical importance of this work. Although the Impressionistic          character of the musical language reflects his studies with Debussy, the composer                   never once renounces his native origins. Overflowing with the thrilling rhythms and             electrifying melodies of Spanish folkmusic, this work achieved worldwide popularity         virtually overnight.

Rafael Fruhbeck de Burgos' original 1964 recording was considered to be one of the outstanding EMI HMV releases. As so often with this brilliant Spanish conductor,                     he proves that he is a force with which to be reckoned. The Philharmonia Orchestra   executes the slightest nuance, the most exquisite of figures and gentlest lyrical tone with meticulous precision. Powerful rolls of thunder, the click of castanets, lively rhythms and rich sonority conjure up a picture of fiery Spanish temperament so            tangibly before our mind's ears that further comment on the recording seems         superfluous except to mention Victoria de los Angeles, whose soprano solowork                      is exquisite.

In sum, highly recommended for performance and sound!  Being out of print and no        longer available from the manufacturer, demand for the Alto Limited Edition reissue            has not abated and the price for a pristine copy continues to soar. This magnificent                  recording is essential for every collection. It is an absolute must-have!  Don't let it                   slip by.
