Issued as the John Guernsey Group featuring Hannah Brown, Tom Guidera & Gerry Mule; additional backing by a very talented string quartet. This recording has been written up in the Goldmine Record Collector’s Magazine as an impossible to find recording, due to the fact there are so few copies in existance. 

At the time it was recorded, Emmy Lou was probably best known for her work with Gram Parsons. Not really a country tune, this enchanting lullaby is one of the most beautiful songs she’s ever recorded.  

You won’t find this song on an Emmy Lou anthology or greatest hits recording because it was produced just before she signed with Warner Bros, and due to her pending contract, she pulled permission to use her real name, hence the pseudonym Hannah Brown. 

The record was a regional hit in the Washington, DC area, where Emmy Lou briefly lived and was still performing. Alternative radio station WHFS, in Bethesda, MD, played the song regularly for months, as did many other stations, and continued to air it occasionally for years after its release. In fact HFS would often play the flip side as well, which had nothing to do with Emmylou, but was the break song for Claude Jones, one of DC’s most popular rock groups.  

Flashback to the Washington, DC club scene, circa 1971-1974, Claude Jones taking the stage at the legendary Emergency in Georgetown, sharing the limelight with Nils Lofgren's GRIN. Some of the same musicians are backing Emmylou in this truely rare masterpiece. 

This 45 rp single is unplayed and in near mint condition, with a pretty decent looking b&w picture sleeve and it even includes the b&w lyric insert.

CONDITION: Record is NM, and Picture Sleeve is VG+ due to yellowing of the sleeve near the edges (see picture).

RECORD GRADING: I am only selling Mint to VG++ at this time

New Old Stock (NOS): New records that have been preserved in my time vault, generally the covers need description but the record is Near Mint.

Near Mint (NM): This is the top grade and is in pristine condition with and no marks. A NM cover will show no signs of wear.

Near Mint Minus (NM-): is slightly below the NM grade with only one imperfection but generally flawless.

Very Good Plus Plus (VG++) Record may have sleeve marks from being pulled in and out of a cover. Typically these marks will only be viewable under a bright light bulb. Generally will play through like a NM- with little to no surface noise. Cover may have storage wear, tiny age spots, or creasing, nothing distracting or major.

PACKAGING: Our records are professionally packed in thick, sturdy cardboard record mailers or envelopes & clearly labeled.
