Description
EMPYRE Worlds Apart / Swordplay PRIVATE PRESS EMP 1 USA Hard Melodic Rock Metal
Empyre, Worlds Apart b/w Swordplay.
Scarce 1986 presumed private pressed 7" housed in plain sleeve and clear poly outer sleeve, EMP 1 (SRT6KS774).
This melodic/hard rock/metal single is presumed by the New York band of the same name who released a private pressed 1986 12" EP/mini LP entitled "Foundation" on the Coat Of Arms Records label. The release year is the same and the song "Sword Play" appears on the 12".
Country of manufacture is not stated, but this looks to me to be an England/UK pressing, and the tracks were recorded in London.
The white "Monterrez" labels featured to the top of both label sides are actually pasted on. These have leeched a little and adhered to the inner of the poly sleeve, suggesting that the poly sleeve is original and was added before the labels had time to dry out. On the Worlds Apart side just a little of the black print has adhered to the inner of the sleeve and this has not really affected the appearance of the label. On the reverse side much of the label has actually adhered to the poly sleeve, leaving only the "ERRE" part of the label and some white backing material to the actual label. Beneath this loss can be made out the beginning of large black capitalised print reading "EM".
Given the catalogue number EMP 1 it is probably safe to assume that the covered lettering reads EMPYRE. Why this has been covered up with "MONTERREZ" stickers is open to conjecture.
Note that the actual labels have suffered no loss or tearing.
Vinyl EX plus with clean playback free of crackle, ticks or clicks.
Sleeves are clean and unmarked, bar the sticker leeching to the poly outer.
