Here we have a very nice, and very inexpensive 10” Pink G&T 78 rpm record by Enrico Caruso.
It is “La Donna e Mobile” from Rigoletto (Verdi) and was recorded in Camden Noo Joisey on the 1st Of February 1904, at Caruso’s first ever USA recording session.
The issue number is GC 52062 (this is the UK issue pressed from the American Stampers) and the mx is 995.
It’s AMAZINGLY INEXPENSIVE because there are signs of an edge-chip or rim-flake that has been expertly repaired, probably by some highly skilled person trying to get a job on “The Repair Shop”.
It’s nowhere near the music and it is clean, restored and safe.
This isn’t Caruso’s rarest release, but is IS a G&T, and it has a very clean and shiny surface, a raised rim, and it plays beautifully.
If it weren’t for the expertly repaired mini-chip, we would grade it as an E- - using VJM’s perplexing and abstruse system.
It’s still really nice and we commend it to the house.
