RECORD: Play grade ON MY Hi-End system (Thorens/Sme /Ortofon SPU Gold, McIntosh C 22, McIntosh MC 2000, Magneplanar 3.5)
FULL PLAY CHECK (listened to record from beginning to end)
SIDE ONE: PLAYS EX MINUS. Plays with some very soft tics very soft crackles that do not seriously affect sound. Because a 2 centimeter horizontal mark (not vertical scratch) track four plays with some TOCS and scratch
SIDE TWO: Track 1 to 5 PLAYS Near Mint. Track 6 Plays Vg++, Plays with two toc.
Moving cello performance of Schubert’s Ave Maria
Record is graded with the combination SME/ ORTOFON SPU GOLD cartridge. This combination is very sensitive to marks and backgroundnoise.
Probably with a with a mono cartridge the soft tics and "crackles" are disappeared.
Unless you buy a vinyl record that is SEALED there will always be some type of surface sounds, or background noise, known as pops and crackling. If the LP has been played a couple of times, it can never be perfect. This is especially noticeable in classical records, which have quiet passages.
