1st Time on Ebay with the ORIGINAL WITHDRAWN cover
Artist: Enrico Mainardi / Carlo Zecchi / BrahmsAlbum Title: Sonata No. 1 in E Minor Op. 38 / Sonata No. 2 in F Major
Label: RCA Italiana
Cover Condition: EX (Very light crease in top right corner of cover. Click on the magnifying glass for a larger image.)
Vinyl Condition: EX (Great copy, just a few very minor paper scuffs.)
Description: Original Italian pressing on RCA Italiana catalog # ML 20170 with the original WITHDRAWN cover. RCA had initially planned this release to be on RCA Italiana when it was shelved last minute for unknown reasons. It was then released on RCA Camden, RCA’s budget label. However, RCA had already pressed up some vinyl with the RCA Italiana labels; so, not to lose money, RCA inserted them into RCA Camden covers until the inital run was depleted. It is a shame that RCA decided to do this, as the original Italiana cover uses much thicker cardstock, with a nice glossy laminate front and altogether different cover photo & graphic design. Compare this to the RCA Camden cover which uses flimsy low quality cardboard, a badly designed & crowded cover layout, and personally, a less interesting shot of Mainardi & Zecchi reading sheet-music. To my knowledge, this is the first time that a RCA Italiana pressing has shown up with the original withdrawn cover.
