THE ENSEMBLE AL-SALAAM - "The Sojourner". (strata-east7418; stereo; 1974). Excellent freeform jazz LP, recorded May 25, 1974 in White Plains, New York. Liners: "What type of music is this? ... Peaceful but not weak, firey and yet non-violent ... it is truthful, it is dynamic". Players: Khaliq Abdul Al Rouf- saxes, piccolo, flute; Bevin Turnbull- electric piano; Beatrice Parker- vocals; Mashujaa Aliye Salamu- electric guitar; Leroy Seals- fender electric bass; Fred Kwaku Crawley- percussion; Andrei Strobert- drums. Cuts: "Music is nothing but a prayer, Ecstasy, The Sojourner, Circles, Traces of trane, Vibration love call, Malika, Optimystical, Peace". *Vinyl is Mint minus.
