Epidermis played sophisticated rock and made a name for themselves with their “Genius of original force” LP. Their first work, “June 1975”, remained unreleased back then and was as yet only available as download.
Epidermis were founded in Idstein, Hesse, in 1971, but they soon moved to the regional capital, Wiesbaden. They played some complex sophisticated rock music, with frequent changes of rhythm and pace, and polyphonic vocal harmonies. They were often compared with Gentle Giant, Yes, and the Canterbury scene. Their first LP, recorded in Fred Kersten’s studio in June 1975, remained unreleased back then because they didn’t find a label for it. Only their second album, “Genius of original force”, was released (on Kerston Records in 1977). “June 1975” was as yet only available as download in MP3 quality. The work is now for the first time available as LP as well as CD, both drawn from the master tapes. The 20-page booklet in LP size contains a long band history in German and English, the song lyrics, a detailed discography, many photographs, etc.

Epidermis wurden 1971 im hessischen Idstein gegründet, siedelten aber schon bald in die Landeshauptstadt Wiesbaden um. Sie spielten Sophisticated Rock mit vielschichtigem Aufbau, häufigen Rhythmus- und Tempowechseln und mehrstimmigem Satzgesang. Oft wurden sie mit Gentle Giant, Yes und der Canterbury-Szene verglichen. Ihre erste LP, aufgenommen im Juni 1975 im Studio von Fred Kersten, blieb damals unveröffentlicht, weil sie kein Label dafür fanden. Erst ihr zweites Werk, „Genius of original force“, erschien 1977 auf Kerston Records. „June 1975“ war bisher nur als Download mit mäßigem MP3-Klang zu haben. Nun erstmals als LP und auch als CD, gezogen von den Mutterbändern. Das Heft von 20 Seiten im LP-Format enthält eine lange Bandgeschichte in deutsch und englisch, die Songtexte, eine ausführliche Diskographie, viele Photos usw.
