Description
This is a very good original U.S. pressing copy of the second and final LP that former Animals vocalist Eric Burdon made with War, a double LP released in 1970. After scoring a top five hit on their debut with "Spill the Wine," Burdon and War mined similar sonic territory on their sophomore effort, mixing R&B, soul, and Latin influences, and featuring some extended suites. The record's title is an ironic allusion to Rudyard Kipling's poem "The White Man's Burden," which any English schoolboy of Burdon's generation would have been familiar with. Burdon departed after this LP, and the rest of the group went on to great success over the next several years. The gatefold jacket has ring, corner, spine, and seam wear; a ½” split in the bottom seam; and a little writing in pen on the front cover (VG+). The discs have some loss of glossiness and some light scraping and scuffing, and play with steady, mostly light hissing (VG+). The record comes with a “War bond” insert (M-), a $1 off coupon redeemable at one of the group's concerts.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
