Description
This is the rare vinyl limited edition deluxe 3-LP box set from the Clapton/Winwood concert series at Madison Square Garden on February The only physical flaw I can find on the box set or program is a 3/4-inch long shallow and narrow groove in the back of the box through the UPC code. It is pictured in a close-up. Even the plastic wrap is otherwise completely intact, including at all corners, edges and sides.
History rocked and rock made history during a sold-out three-gig stand at Madison Square Garden in late February 2008 when icons Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood performed a concert together for the first time since their all-too-brief days in the legendary Blind Faith in 1969. Whether they will ever team again is unknown. With Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood Live From Madison Square Garden, fans everywhere are able to experience the sound and the glory of a performance on that famous stage by two of rock's greatest artists. This three-LP edition includes an exclusive lithograph featuring a photo taken by Danny Clinch at the legendary shows. Entertainment Reviews: Record Collector (magazine) - p.804 stars out of 5 -- "Winwood's opening 'Had To Cry Today' sets the tone, with its sweet ivories over rumbling rhythm, as Clapton's sweet guitar lines garnish the feast." Forty years later these legends collaborated again, selling out a trio of dates at Madison Square Garden, the results of which are captured on this dynamic double-disc set. The set list includes material from the catalogs of Blind Faith, Traffic, Derek and the Dominos, and Clapton's solo oeuvre (including the J.J. Cale-penned classics "After Midnight" and "Cocaine"). Two Jimi Hendrix covers appropriately evoke the bygone '60s era, but the mode here is more laid-back and polished than fiery and psychedelic. That's not to say that Winwood and Clapton, who shine equally on these cuts, don't charm with their familiar skill and finesse. The result is 20 tracks-worth of classic rock pleasure.
