Label Description: Purple label with silver lettering and logo, RVG stamped in the dead wax and deep groove.

 

The record has a Rudy Van Gelder name, or his initials (RVG) stamped or hand-etched in the trail-off vinyl (dead wax). On SOME Jazz labels (Blue Note, Savoy, Regent, Prestige, Impulse, Verve…) this stamp signifies highly professional masterings either done by - or personally authorized by - the legendary engineer himself.

The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

The Musicians are:

Eric Dolphy, Alto Sax, Flute Bb and bass Clarinet; Ron Carter, Cello; George Duvivier, Bass and Roy Haynes, Drums.

The Tunes are:

Out There, Serene, The Baron, Eclipse, 17 West, Sketch of Melba and Feathers.

GRADING

RECORD: Play grade on my Hi-end system: Thorens 521/Sme 312/Shure V XV V°, Marantz model 7, Marantz Model 9 and Magnepan 3.5 and it play great.

Side one: Near Mint

 Side two: Near Mint Minus to Near Mint (play with same occasional soft background noise ONLY IN QUIET PASSAGE that do not affect seriously sound)

Visual grade: VERY G PLUS (some scuffs and marks).

COVER: very good. Spine with tape. Top and Bottom seams intact, but same parts has been well repaired with glue. 

Laminated on cover has been removed

Strictly graded

 

RECORD has been CLEANED ON THE CLERAUDIO MATRIX CLEANING MACHINE AND REPLACED BACK INTO NEW LINED INNER SLEEVE.
