ERICA MORINI – BRUCH / GLASUNOW – DG 138044 SLPM
1959 Deutsche Grammopon stereo recording catalogue number 138044 SLPM on German Tulip label. The legendary Erica Morini playing Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No.1, in G minor Op.26, and Alexander Glasunow’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Op.82, with Ferenc Fricsay conducting the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra.
The sound quality of this recording is superb. At the start of side 2 (Glasunow) there are unsightly scratches – one a wide very nasty-looking 1½-cm long. The disc plays MUCH better than it looks and VERY surprisingly produces only 24 ticks (mainly light) during the first 1½-minutes. We can detect only 3 other very faint random ticks on side 2 and 5 very faint random ticks on side 1.
The glossy sleeve is intact but has corner and edge creasing and wear plus record impress and score marks on front and rear. There is a "Stereo Compatible" sticker on front, plus a small area of surface loss (sticky label removal?).
