Description
RCA Victor Stereo LSC 2689
cover shows shelf wear, tearing at spine (see picture).
LP shows scuff marks, fingerprints, surface scratches but not extending into the grooves. White Dog, stampers 12S/12S I played through both sides before listing and can report:
Low level surface noise, sounds like vinyl artifacts in general. Music is cut at a high level, surface noise is way down there and does not intrude. The violin tone is awesome and this recording is killer. It is a Charles Gerhardt production and one would expect no less. Only in the quietest sections is surface noise apparent through the music, as in the beginning of side 2. Minor ticks and pops, but for the most part this sounds like an lp that is nearly new.
Now I played this on my VPI HW-19 mk III deck, Rega arm and Sumiko cartridge...this was an awesome front end in the early 90s and it is a pretty good one even today. The better the front end the less noise will be an issue...your mileage may vary. This is not mint, it shows physical marks on the surface. My listening revealed below average surface noise and very few ticks and pops...only at the beginning of side 2 did anything become intrusive. And then it was only apparent because I was critically listening for flaws before listing. This is a music lover and audiophile delight. Not mint, not silent, sounds awesome, some minor noise.
