ERROR MISSPRESS GOOD MORNING The Beatles Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club LP RARE. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Media Mail.
Very rare Beatles Mispressing w/ Good Morning error
This was withdrawn nearly immediately due to a problem with the stamper causing a severe channel drop out on Good Morning. This comes directly from a Capitol records employee, who hung onto it ever since the late 60’s when it came off the press.
You will not see this often! NM price is listed at $700 for this rarity, but it’s never realized that price to my knowledge. However out of the couple that have shown up for sale over the years I believe this is the nicest copy that’s been found!
Below is a write up about this specific pressing:
....This particular edition contains a unique oddity - the stamper used for this batch contained an incorrect mix of "Good Morning, Good Morning," which somewhat resembles the sparse version released on Anthology 2. Backing vocals and horns are heard only for the first few seconds, then shut off abruptly, never to be heard again. Furthermore, the animal sounds at the end are quite different. (Note that all other songs on the album are as they should be; the cut to "Sgt. Pepper Reprise" returns everything to normal!) This mistake was quickly corrected, and doesn't seem to have been repeated on any other batch, anywhere in the world....
This Record was most likely unplayed before I acquired it, I’ve played it a handful of times, and I’m no audiophile but I was blown away by the sound quality on the other tracks. Presumably due to this being caught early and the stampers that pressed these errors were fresh! So in my opinion that contributes to this pressing sounding top notch.
Condition of cover: VG+ no splits, slight wear (see pics) comes with insert
Condition of vinyl: EX/EX+ (some very faint sleeve marks in some areas, not scuffs or scratches, and nothing that affects playback. Just in the right light you’ll see a small scattering of light imprints from the sleeve) plays superb overall, very light ticks and pops, nothing that detracts from the sound quality, mostly only heard in very quiet areas. I did a very light cleaning with a couple drops of anti static cleaning solution to try and get some of the dust off, however I decided I’d let the buyer do a more thorough cleaning if they desire.
