I recently picked up a spare copy of this classic Florida punk record, considered by many to be one of the best to come from the state.  Since none of my record trading partners have anything equal to offer, I am placing it up for sale. 

This copy is very gently used.  For a 30 year old punk record, it is in amazing condition.  I consider it to be NEAR MINT.  If you examine the photos, you will see it is in very nice condition, which I will now describe as accurately as I can.  I am not sure how many copies were produced, but my guess is 1,000 or less.  I have never seen another copy for sale and it may be years before another turns up.  As I said, this is a spare copy for me, as I would never sell my only one.  I rate it among Florida's Top Five Greatest Records Ever.

COVER:  The cover has small bend/crease in upper left corner, perhaps 1/2 inch long, visible only on the front, not affecting the back cover.  Both sides of the cover show minor ring wear, evidenced below the "S" in "Slow" on the front and barely visible across the chests of the band members on the back cover.  There are 4 very small bends visible on the right side of the back cover and slight edge wear on the lower right back cover.

INSERT:  This copy includes the 6" by 6" square, two sided black and white insert.  Insert is clean and straight.  No stray marks, no bends or wrinkles.  Like brand new.

VINYL:  Near mint.  No skips, scuffs or scratches.  No warps, no bends, no dishing.  I cleaned this copy twice with my record cleaning machine, so it is as clean as an unplayed copy.

ABOUT THE BAND:  The Essentials were from Ft Lauderdale, FL.  They existed in the early 1980s.  This 7" is their only record.  Some Essentials songs have been bootlegged on "Killed By 7 Inch Vol. 2" and on the "Killed By Florida" LP.  If you are a fan of KBD (Killed By Death), Bloodstains Across and Back To Front type music, then you will greatly enjoy this record.  If you have never heard the band, contact me and I can tell you how to hear a song or two.

The Essentials featured the late Pete Moss who also played in F, Gay Cowboys In Bondage, Spanish Dogs and many other Killed By Death-era punk and hardcore bands in the early 1980s.  Guitar player Walter Cz is also known for his work with The Chant and for designing the cover of The Eat's second record, "God Punishes The Eat," (released in 1980 on Giggling Hitler Records.)  And of course bassist Steve Sincere is well know for, uh.. being sincere.  Ha, ha. 

ABOUT THE RECORD:  "Fast Music In A Slow Town" was produced by Florida's legendary Charlie Pickett, whom you probably know from Charlie Pickett And The Eggs.  This record is also noteworthy for being the first release on the important Safety Net label, which along with Open Records and Destroy Records documented Florida's emerging punk/new wave/alternative/power pop scene in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
