A particularly rare, 1968, UK EMI mono reel to reel tape format of Cliff Richard and The Shadows last studio recording before The Shadows first broke up in 1968. "Established 1958". Released at the same time as the vinyl album in 1968.
In complete and very good condition, all elements: the tape, spool, insert, Emitape leaflet, packing slip, jewel case and the Columbia logo circular sticker to the spool. The sound is very clear and perfect. Clearly little played. No edits, fade/drop outs. breaks.
This mono tape was released after the wide availability of four track stereo tapes began in 1967. There would have been a stereo tape version of this album, but the mono is by far the rarer of the two.
The late 1960s were musically, a "hesitant" time in both Cliff Richard's and The Shadows' careers, with the injection into the pop scene of very different popular styles by up and coming artists from 1966 onwards. And it is interesting to see on this album how they were trying to move with the times, without fully compromising their previous styles.
