Estiban - L.A. Walk - EL Records WRC1-1258. Record: NM / Cover: NM in shrink. This record was sealed and opened to inspect for warps (owner hated to do so, but was being diligent)... perfect deadstock condition ascertained. Unplayed, top copy! Gaining momentum on want lists, this is rapidly cementing in status: a prized Canadian gem. Though the title alludes to a west coast funk outing, Estiban delivers a compelling and thoroughly eclectic album here, with top entries across the genre board: soul, modern soul, funk, and rnb are all delved into with panache. Yes... panache! Just look at this man on the cover! He wants you to hear his music. He is brimming over so much with earnestness that I believe he has actually burst through the shrink wrap near his chin stroking fist. He's like the hulk tearing his clothing! He's coming to get you! Or is it that he's there for you?! (You can never be certain with the Hulk, or with earnestness!!) Now you are staring into his eyes! Or is he staring into yours? Too late to contemplate!
