ETRON FOU LELOUBLAN 'Batelages' LP (France, Replica Records, Catalogue #RPC02) Brand new/unplayed copy of limited year 2013 Replica Records label LP edition of 1976 Prog/"Rock In Opposition" album by French band Etron Fou Leloublan.

"The debut album by this French jazz-avantgarde band was released in 1976. Weird free jazz/rock lunacy, with Captain Beefheart being a good reference point if you need it. Eccentric to the max, this is definitely not something for everybody, but if you're into that RIO thing you'll most likely love it. 500 copies, 180-gram vinyl." "It remains an interesting record for two main reasons. First, it is the only Etron Fou featuring original singer/saxophonist Chris Chanet (aka Eulalie Ruynat). Second, what this group was playing was completely nuts. Ferdinand Richard's bass work had already reached a virtuosic level, enough for him to lead in two cuts. Guigou Chenevier's mad drumming, neurotic, depressive-compulsive—a cross between Magma's Christian Vander and free improv's original madman, Han Bennink."

'This group were one of the leading exponents of the Rock In Opposition movement in France. Their music is spontaneous, wacky, playful, insane, humourous, random, noisy and Dadaistic, stretching the concepts of Beefheart's Trout Mask Replica and Henry Cow's Leg End to their outer limits. This music is certainly an acquired taste.
