"Solo Acoustic Guitar, Vol. 1 was Eugene Chadbourne's first album (hence the title). Released in 500 copies on his freshly incepted Parachute label, it was recorded while the guitarist was still based in Calgary, Alberta. The seven instrumental pieces it contains are performed on acoustic and prepared acoustic guitar. Derek Bailey's influence is strong, but one also finds Braxton's conception of jazz and a bit of bottleneck blues permeating the music. Chadbourne even gets tender on "Love," a delicate composition. The highlight on this album is the loosely tied suite "Music for Mr. Anthony Braxton." The second part is especially interesting, featuring Bailey-esque strumming, the likes of which will hardly reappear in the man's career. Sound quality of the original LP is allegedly poor."
LP is VG++, with several faint scuffs. There is some surface noise (some crackle, tics, and pops) with no skips. The pops that you hear may be in the recording itself, as there are no scratches to cause these kinds of noises. Listen to the first track below, from this actual LP:


LP is very clean and retains a nice gloss. Interior labels are very clean. Jacket is VG to VG+, with no seam splits - but has visible wear on all seams and corners.There is creasing on all corners and along the spine. There is ring wear on the front and back of the jacket. It looks as though the front and back of the jacket were not evenly measured and cut, as along the top seam the back of the jacket extends higher than the front (see pictures). The front and back retain a nice gloss. Original insert is NOT included. Don't miss this extremely rare gem!
