EUPHORIA'S ID -  HEY JOE / DECEPTION'S ICE - 45 RPM - EADIT RECORD PRODUCTIONS #201,365/366 - 1967 - RARE GARAGE PUNK/PSYCH

Extremely rare piece of garage punk right here.  One of the best records of the few to be produced in Maine in the 60's.  Euphoria's Id hailed from Saco, Maine and cut two singles in the 60's (the first as just "The Id" in 1966 on Cinema, which is also a killer record containing Morning Dew and I Just Don't Understand You Baby).  This is their second record, a blistering version of Hey Joe in the punk vein ala Byrds-Love-Leaves versions, NOT like the Jimi Hendrix, slowed-down version.  The b-side is the amazing "Deception's Ice" which veers more toward a psychedelic punk sound.  A double-sided killer ...YOU NEED THIS!!  Ranked at #221 on the G45 Legends list for rarity and greatness.  Only about 25 or less are known to exist, and this is one of them.  The band split up shortly after this record and the drummer Skip Smith and keyboardist Jay Snyder went on to form the psych band Fate in 1968. Guitarist Jim Drown would later find success with his band The Blend in the late 70s. Being from Maine, I am proud to label this "local band" as Maine rock legends, as we don't really have much great music to brag about. A sheer classic and a perfect addition to the collection of a true fan of rare garage, psych & 60's rock n roll.

Grading: VG ... Record plays great with some fairly noticeable scratchy pops.  The b-side plays cleaner than the a-side, but surface noise can be heard on both sides.  Plays through with NO LOUD CLICKS and NO SKIPS.  A few light scratches are visible on the a-side, and only a couple on the b-side.  The labels have a little bit of wear from poor storage but don't have any tears, writing or gouges.  I have samples of both sides of this very record on file, but I don't know how to upload them to ebay.  If you are curious to hear both sides, please message me with your email and I'll be happy to send over the files. 

Story of this very record:  A friend of mine grew up in Kennebunk Port, Maine in the 60s, and was a big fan of the local rock bands of the time, as well as the big bands and other small-time bands from all over.  He's always been a collector but never actually owned this record.  One day he walked into a local record store in Portsmouth, NH sometime in the 80s, and looked up at the ceiling tiles (as the store used old 45's to decorate their ceiling by shoving them in-between the tile-dividers).  He was pleased to find this record up there, and asked the clown behind the desk if he could have it.  Of course, since they figured this was some sort of piece of crap, they just let him have it.  He's taken care of it since, and now needs to part with it due to recent health issues and hospital bills.  Please understand that there is a generous reserve on this auction, for this reason only.  Thanks for viewing my auction and make a bid or two.
