This was the very first official release, being released on the 22nd of March 1963 (MONO version) and later on the 26th of April 1963 (STEREO version). The Lp reached number one in; Disc Weekly, Melody Maker,  New Musical Express and The Record Retailer in the UK. Only to be knocked off by their next album With The Beatles.

 Amazingly the songs, which were taken from their first two singles and included a further ten songs, were all recorded in one marathon session at Abbey Road Studios. John wasn't feeling too well and got throught the 3 sessions in the one day by having milk, tea and Zubes lozenges....

WOW-LOVELY AND EARLY HERE

This pressing is one of the first 8th presses, making the transition from the Yellow Parlophone labels in 1969. The format wasn't liked, with just the one EMI box and was quickly withdrawn, only to be re-released as the 9th press, but this time with the more common 2 box EMI label. Not many of these 1 box EMI labels made it through the net....and hard to find in this condition!

There are only a couple of light and whispy marks to the record, with nothing at all to affect the play. I am just listening to the vinyl right now, with headphones on and turned right up....WOW....takes you right back to the magical 60's FAB!!! The Beatles in all their original glory.
Just dust which provides a bit of background noise inbetween songs-so a light clean will make her UPGRADE FURTHER!

There is ZERO central hole wear as seen in the pictures, with just a couple of very light spindle trails, visible only when angled to the light. They really stand out nice and clean, with no writing or anything to detract from it's gorgeousness.

SIMPLY THE BEST 1 BOX PPM COPY I HAVE EVER SEEN

 Outer rim text starts with "The Gramophone Co.Ltd" with no "Recording First Published" text. The later labels had the outer rim text stating an "EMI recording..."

Cover: EX+. Barely any wear to this cover-just some light discolouration from age (hey don't we all ;)!
 It is a genuine Garrod and Lofthouse cover with the Angus McBean in the lower right corner on the front.
Rounded corner flipbacks.
SMALL STEREO TO TOP RIGHT CORNER
THIS COVER HAS NOT BEEN SWAPPED OUT...IT IS ALL GENUINE!!!!
Only a couple of tiny lines of spidering to the laminate-nothing at all to worry about as she would frame incerdibly well.
STRONG and LEGIBLE spine.


The Inner: EX+! EMI Sepia advertising inner in FAB condition! Adverts for Sgt Pepper and Pink Floyds 1st Lp.
Stronger and thicker paper sleeve with just minimal wear....LOVELY!

A REAL COLLECTORS ITEM IN SUPER CONDITION
NOT MANY OF THESE PRESSINGS WERE PRODUCED AND WERE ARGUABLY SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN THE BLACK AND GOLD LABEL!
