This Pathé record is an attractive document of French violin playing in the 1930s. Denise Soriano's playing is heard here in the intimate and lyrical world of Reynaldo Hahn and in the elegant violin tradition represented by the Porpora–Kreisler Menuet.

The Romance in A major is also of particular discographical interest. Although the original Pathé label credits the piano accompaniment to “Mme E. Loiseau”, modern discographies identify the pianist on this recording as Magda Tagliaferro, one of the important representatives of the French school of pianism and a regular musical partner of Denise Soriano.
