The Shirelles were an influential American girl group in the early 1960s, and they were the very first girl group to have a number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The members of the quartet were Shirley Owens (who was the lead singer for the most part), Doris Coley, Beverly Lee, and Addie "Micki" Harris. The quartet formed in New Jersey in 1958, and went on to release a string of hits including "Baby It's You", "Soldier Boy", "Mama Said", and the #1 Pop hits "Will You Love Me Tomorrow" and "Soldier Boy." Their "Sha La La" became an international hit when covered by the British group Manfred Mann, and "Boys" was covered by the Beatles (Ringo Starr singing lead).The Beatles also covered "Baby It's You" on their "Please Please Me" album. Although they had no more charting hits after 1967, the Shirelles continued recording for a small but devoted audience well into the 1970s and continued to tour and perform into the early 1980s. Single comes with original Bell records sleeve.   Unfortunately there is some writing in felt pen near the top of the sleeve, otherwise its in very good condition.

On both side there are faint marks around the hole where the spindle of the record player has rubbed against the label.  

VINYL APPEARANCE

EXCELLENT -

On both sides there are some occasional and very light surface marks.    These are hardly noticeable and the overall vinyl quality of this single is excellent.

AUDIO QUALITY

EXCELLENT 

Shirley and the Shirelles sound brilliant on both the title track

We have a data-based collection, using the RARE RECORD PRICE GUIDES' grading scale (If you are unaware of this grading system please don’t hesitate to contact me and I will reply as soon as possible with the guides description). As you can see in the description there is a grading given for VINYL and AUDIO QUALITY.  This is necessary because a record may seem poor quality when viewed, but when played the AUDIO QUALITY is often excellent.  Conversely the VINYL QUALITY may seem excellent but when played the AUDIO QUALITY can be quite poor.

We will offer a FULL REFUND (INCLUDING P + P) if you find that any of the gradings (OUTER SLEEVE, LABEL, VINYL or AUDIO QUALITY) given in the listing do not match the description of RARE RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM.  A FULL REFUND (INCLUDING P + P) policy prohibits scammers, but more importantly ensures our TRUE COLLECTORS complete piece of mind.  As you can see by my feedback, we have attained a STRONG REPUTATION based upon the ACCURACY of my description, COMMUNICATION with clients and a quick and PROFESSIONAL postage.  So, in the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied, please notify me within 48 HOURS of receipt that you are returning the record and we will deposit your refund via PAYPAL.
