Notes
ABOUT THE RECORD: All RAF recruits undertake a six week basic training course at the School of Recruit Training, RAF Swinderby, to qualify as airmen. Successful completion of the course is marked by a Passing Out Parade, the form of which has remained the same over many years.
'The Newcomers' is a recording made at RAF Swinderby of one of these parades and serves as a souvenir for the many Newcomers who have passed through the 'Gates' (the Station Motto is Haec Porta, Moenia Viri; these are the gates, the Men are the walls) and on, inevitably along the Foss Way, to life as airmen in the Royal Air Force.
It is appropriate that the music should be played by the Midland Band of the Royal Air Force for, amongst it's many engagements, the Band provides the essential 'beat' for the weekly Passing Out Parade at Swinderby. (Taken from vinyl sleeve)
The tracklisting works as follows, each track has two parts; the first being the part of the parade, the second is the accompanying music.
