Description
Rare in this condition and very desirable. On offer is an original British monaural version of the Rolling Stones' landmark 1968 LP Beggars Banquet, Decca LK 4955.
The matrix numbers in the dead wax are XARL-8476-6A and XARL-8477-2A. It comes in the Garrod and Lofthouse laminated gatefold sleeve.
This record plays with superb mono sound -- full and clear. The thick vinyl has much of its original shine and gloss. Under a strong light you can see some hairlines and light surface marks. The playback is very strong. Sympathy for the Devil will knock your socks off. Over the two sides, I hear hardly any surface noise -- a few insignificant flurries in a few quiet spots. The beautifully preserved labels show only a small amount of spindle wear.
The disc grades excellent by the Record Collector Magazine definition "The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality."
The gatefold sleeve is also in excellent conditon -- crisp and fresh. It has NO splits, tears, significant creasing or writing. The is a touch of soiling to the spine and one small bit of lamination has come loose there. The front and back of the sleeve are overall very clean and attractive. There are a few insignificant indentation marks on the front and a tiny mark or two of discolouraton. The inside is excellent.
