Description
3 record set in paper sleeves and cardboard jacket internally divided and wrapped with black paper which is peeling away on one side, torn on another. Sleeves are bent at the corners, toned. Records are without visible blemish. E range or better.
Earl Weatherford spent his entire career singing Southern Gospel in a variety of groups which usually bore his name somewhere: Weatherford-Stamps (as in Stamps-Baxter publishing, the powerhouse in Southern Gospel music in the 30's and 40's), Melody Masters Quartet with Earl Weatherford, The Weatherfords, the Weatherford Quartet. His quartets would be featured in the services of several of the top evangelists of his era, and he served within these churches as well.
Between 1953 and 1963 he traveled and sang with [Alpha] Rex Humbard, Pastor of the Cathedral of Tomorrow. Rex got his start in tent revivals as a young lad, and stayed with it his entire life, becoming what some called one of the top 25 architects of the 20th century. Weatherford was right there with him.
This collection is a repressing of the groups first three records with Cathedral Records. When Weatherford left for the sunnier climate of California, the quartet was replaced with the Cathedral Quartet [Cathedrals].
