READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Early Beatles MONO LP 1965 First Pressing One UNDOCUMENTED Label, NICE Vinyl!

The Los Angeles plant had printed up two variations of the same label for their MONO copies, both in circulation on their first pressings.  The Side 1 label, which isn’t that hard to find, is the first variation, which places a gap between the album’s title and the band members’ names.  The second variation, which can be found with flat or high-gloss labels closes that gap.  The flat labels are the hardest to find.  (See Compere photo.)

But this copy has a variation which I’ve only seen a few times.  It single-spaces all three lines of information.  It’s not mentioned in any of the great books, either.  I guess my next edition of my two books on flash drive will be the first one to mention.

**I’ve never seen a Side 1 label with this variation.  If anyone out there has one, will you contact me?  I’d like to include it in the next edition.  You will get full credit.

Vinyl--- VG+/VG+.  Many collectors would push this copy into the Excellent grade, and they wouldn’t be wrong.  Both sides have some manufacturer’s cloudiness, but not very much.  Also has a very few very light angel hairs.  Both sides retain at least 85% new shine.  Good-looking record!

Plates--- F3/F3.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Cover--- VG+.  Very structurally solid cover.  No ringwear or dirtwear on either side.  Front cover has a moderate crease just above Ringo’s head.  There’s a second smaller crease at the bottom left corner.  Slight wear to the center of the cover.  Top and bottom corners of the mouth have small push-ins.

Back cover has moderately yellowed.  Light record outdent at the back top only.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

**The only reason I kept this cover at VG+ is because if you tilt the back cover to the light, it’s pretty apparent that someone has tried to clean it.  I almost missed it in the daylight, but it shows up pretty well under artificial light at night.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Both labels have full gloss with just a tiny hint of wear around the edges.  NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Cream-colored Capitol inner sleeve with the words, “Capitol Records, Inc.” in two rows of the perimeter is present.  This specialty sleeve was only issued with west coast albums of 1965 titles.  Has the LA 12TC-A job number, along with the “Printed in U.S.A.” circle on both sides.

Sleeve has yellowed a little.  Light record outdent and a small crease from improper insertion at the factory in one corner only.  One side seam and the bottom seam have splits about one inch long or smaller.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: 6

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
