THIS IS AN AMAZINGLY RARE ORIGINAL U.S PRESSING 5 LP PROMO ONLY BOX SET OF VARIOUS ARTISTS – CALLED EAST MEMPHIS MUSIC THE HITS– IT FEATURES 80 TRACKS OF DEEP SOUTHERN SOUL, MEMPHIS STYLE – THIS ULTRA RARE PUBLISHER'S DEMO SAMPLER WAS RELEASED TO SELECT RADIO, FILM AND TELEVISION PROGRAMMERS ONLY By THE PUBLISHING COMPANY (IRVING MUSIC INC.) IN 1982.
THIS BOX SET (SEL #EM05-0008) WAS NEVER COMMERCIALLY RELEASED IN ANY WAY AND
INCLUDES THE VERY BEST OF THE GREAT MEMPHIS SINGERS AND MUSICIANS SUCH AS OTIS REDDING, ARETHA FRANKLIN, EDDIE FLOYD,RUFUS THOMAS, ISSAC HAYES,CARLA THOMAS, ALBERT KING, WILLIAM BELL , SAM AND DAVE, WILSON PICKETT, DON COVAY, ANN PEEBLES, AL GREEN, BOOKER T.JONES, AND STEVE CROPPER TO NAME A FEW AS WELL AS SOME INSPIRED COVERS OF MEMPHIS MUSIC SONGS BY MORE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS SUCH AS CREAM,STEPPENWOLF AND THE TALKING HEADS. THE BOX HAS BEEN IN MY POSSESSION FOR OVER 25 YEARS AND A PART OF A PERSONAL COLLECTION IN A SMOKE-FREE CLIMATE CONTOLLED HOME..ALL 5 LPS ARE IN PRISTINE MINT-LIKE CONDITION, HAVING BEEN PLAYED JUST ONE AND RECORDED TO DISC.( I'VE INCLUDED A CLOSEUP PHOTO OOF ONE LP TO GIVE YOU AN IDEA WHAT THE LABEL LOOKS LIKE..ANYTHING ON THE VINYL THAT APPEARS AS ANY KIND OF SCRATCH OR IMPERFECTION IS MERELY THE CAUSED BY THE CAMERA FLASH.) THE THICK CARDBOARD BOX SHOWS A BIT OF WEAR ON THE VERY EDGES (NOTHING SUBSTANTIAL) ALL FIVE INNER SLEEVES AND THE 16 PAGE BOOKLET (WITH ALL SONG INFORMATION AND VINTAGE PHOTOS OF THE ARTISTS) ARE IN GREAT CONDITION!..(SEE THE ATTACHED PHOTOS)
