Personal appearances, radio and TV shows have given the Coffeys a wide and devoted fol- lowing. Simple four-part arrangements, backed by accordian and guitar give the Coffeys an uncomplicated down-to-earth style that appeals to the audiences before which they sing. The Coffeys are small-town folk from East Tennessee. Warm-hearted and earnest, their singing carries a sincerity and genuineness. Claude Coffey sings the bass and his wife sings the alto and plays the accordian. Cousin Cleo Chambers plays the guitar and carries the tenor, But everywhere Claudia, the young daughter, is the favorite with her clear, winsome soprano voice. The recording was made in Nashville in the RCA sound studios. So that Mom and Cleo could devote their full attention to singing—Nashville’s top accordianist and guitar player were hired for the sessions. To fill out the accompaniment, an organ and bass fiddle were added. You will enjoy the instrumental setting each of the songs is given. The songs they cut have been stage and platform favorites with the group. “Perfect Joy”, “Standing By the River” are perennial favorites; “Hide Thou Me” and “The Last Mile of the Way” are fine solos by Claudia.
