Description

This 12" Discomix was released in Jamaica in around 1985. The little known Eddie Constantine rides a killer overdubbed cut of Lennie Hibbert's "Real Love"/Sugar Minott's "Try Love" version of the classic late rocksteady Derrick Harriott"Tonight" rhythm. It really is a superb cut, which deserves to be far better known than it, but thereby hangs a tale.... Both sides of this disc are listed as Side 2. The other Side 2 says it's "Pressure Rock" by Reuben Alexander - it isn't. Due to a mix up at the pressing/printing stage, the labels for "Pressure Rock" were printed onto "Don't Fool the Young Girls" by the Gladiators and vice versa, so this is a discomix of the Gladiators answer record to Rudy Mills' "John Jones". Unfortunately, there is a very obvious pressing fault (not unknown at Studio One, and I believe all 12" copies have the same fault) which results in a lot of surface noise for most of the dub cut on that side, so in reality you're getting three great tracks and a dub you might not want to play. The Eddie Constantine side is in superb nick though, and this is a genuine rarity never re-released -
