Description

Collectors, here is an interesting disc, Edison Diamond Disc 52133, circa early 1928, electric recordings.  Two "darkey sketch(es) by comedians Phil Cook and Victor Fleming, using the name "Two Dark Knights": "In Jail" and "Motoring".   Racially tinged stories and jokes delivered in black dialect, perhaps it was funny 90 years ago.  The record plays well, with some surface noise.  There are small edge chips that do not affect play, the labels (what is left of the label on the "In Jail" side) are solidly attached to the record.  Edison stopped diamond disc production in mid-1929 as they were experimenting with making records compatible with Victor and everyone else.  So, let's think about this:  record had less than 1 1/2 years to sell, after that the record and phonographs were obsolete.  I would think within a few years most records and machines were relegated to the attic/basement/dumpster.  So, this record must be pretty rare.  If this is what you like, do not pass it up, finding another copy might be challenging!  Sensible buy it now price given what it is, go for it!!!
