Artist Info –Édith Piaf (19 December 1915 – 10 October 1963; born Édith Giovanna Gassion) was a French cabaret singer, songwriter and actress who became widely regarded as France's national chanteuse, as well as being one of France's greatest international stars.

Her music was often autobiographical with her singing reflecting her life, with her specialty being of chanson and torch ballads, particularly of love, loss and sorrow. Among her well known songs are "La Vie en rose" (1946), "Non, je ne regrette rien" (1960), "Hymne à l'amour" (1949), "Milord" (1959), "La Foule" (1957), "L'Accordéoniste (fr)" (1955), and "Padam ... Padam ..." (1951).

Since her premature death in 1963 and with the aid of several biographies and films including 2007's Academy Award winning La Vie en rose Piaf has cultivated a legacy as one of the greatest performers of the 20th century where her voice and music continues to be celebrated globally.

What Do Our Record Ratings Mean?

Mint (M) -  This means the Vinyl Record is perfect.  It usually means it just left the presses and has no flaws at all.  The vinyl has no scratches or scuffs.  It looks 100% clean and shiny.  The cover has no stickers on the front or back.  The cover is not worn at all.

Near Mint (NM or M-) – To be near mint the record has to have very minor scuffs and not much else to achieve this grading.  It can have very minor marks on the cover but that’s it.  The cover should look like its in perfect condition.  Whatever marks the record has on the vinyl or be cover should be minor.  When you play the record it shouldn’t have any noise at all.

Excellent (EX) – An excellent record can have visible scuffs but they should be very minor.  Compared to Near Mint you should be able to see them without looking too hard.  No seam split on the covers.  The vinyl should still contain no scratches.

Very Good Plus (VG+) – This record would show some wear and surface scuffs.  The flaws on the vinyl are still visible but the vinyl still looks clean.  There should be no surface noise at all.  The cover may have some writing on it but other than that should be very clean.  The corners of the covers may have slight dog ears but have no tears in the spine or holes.  There should be no more than three flaws for this grade.

Very Good (VG) – There may be a number of flaws with this record but it is still acceptable.  The surface noise is present when the record plays.  The vinyl looks clean.  The cover will have some wear to it along with some ring wear.  It will look aged in comparison to a newer record.

Good (G+) – Should still play well.  There will be some crackling noise throughout the record.  The vinyl condition will look as though it’s been played often and you can visibly notice the wear.  You should still be able to play the record and enjoy it at the same time.  The cover will look like it has substantial wear to it.  It may be taped at the seams with writing in markers on the front or back.

Good (G) – The record is not in shape to be played but may be offered for arts and craft purposes.  (Some people make ashtrays or wall clocks out of albums, for example).  Can be collected for the art on the album cover.
